Thursday 28th August - walk **** – Around Ipswich with a picnic on the
waterfront – sunny and warm.
I have now missed two breezy days in a row, that’s how things turn out
sometimes but Mag and I still had loads of fun:) Yesterday our lovely
neighbours invited 18 people who live in our road for a get together over a
cuppa and cake and we were there 5 hours! Then today we had to go to
Ipswich for an appointment at the bank but made the most of the day by
taking a picnic. It was a bit of a muddle today as we had to wait for an
email confirming we needed to go to Ipswich so while waiting I did my
exercises in the sunny back garden, then after some calls things were
arranged so I packed a picnic and we left Felixstowe around 12.30 parking
up beside Holywells Park just off Landseer Road so we could walk through
the park, past the green wild lake before taking the excit which leads down
to Ipswich Waterfront, a sauage dog nearly got run over by a car when the
lead was dropped which was quite a shock but it survived! We continued
along the docks with the new pontoons nearing compiltion taking a few pics
on Mags phone to send to the TV weather. We turned up to the town centre
past a row of really old quarky shops, past Cardinal Wolsey’s statue and
up to the Cornhill. We quickly found the bank, while Mag sorted things out
I sent my pics to the tv, sadly no luck today. Then back to the waterfront
where we had our picnic on a bench in the old Customs House with great
views over the water with the Orwell Bridge in the distance. It was then
back to Holywells for a quick circuit, not as far as we usually walk and
back to the van knackered as we had walked over 4 miles! We took the scenic
route back through Levington, checking out the sea at The Manor which
looked great and home where we were soon dozing on the setees!
Then we were woken by heavy rain, so I quickly drove down to Felixstowe
seafront to take a few pics of a cool rainbow! Some heavy rain is forecast
for Maeva day tomorrow and then a few more breezy days coming so hope to
get out on the water again!
